Task force to make DFCS head report to governor

(WXIA) -- Gov. Nathan Deal's office is preparing an announcement on changes to organizational structure at the Division of Family and Children Services, sources tell 11Alive's Rebecca Lindstrom.

According to the sources, DFCS will be separate from DHS and the head of DFCS will report directly to the governor instead of the commissioner.

Dublin, GA - Sabrina Smith earned her GED in only five short months while attending Adult Education classes at Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) in Dublin. Regular attendance to the free classes at the college and hard work helped Sabrina prepare for each section of the GED test with great success.

Sabrina grew up in Illinois and maintained good grades through junior high; however, in high school, her grades started to decline. She started missing school and eventually dropped out. In 2010, she moved to Dublin, Georgia looking for a fresh start, but she knew she needed to her GED before she could attend college or find a good job.

Road mowing planned for Hancock, Putnam counties this week

Maintenance crews plan to mow along state highways in Hancock and Putnam counties this week.

That's planned for SR 24 between mile posts 9 and 24, as well as SR 22, 15 and 77 between mile markers 12-0, 18-10, and 0-4, respectively, according to a release.

Watch out for mowers between 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
