Ga. officials offer online deer hunting application

SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. (AP) - Georgia wildlife officials are encouraging deer hunters to fill out an online application that will allow them to participate in this season's deer quota hunt.

Officials from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources' Wildlife Resources Division officials say the deadline to submit an application for deer quota hunting is Sept. 1.

Hancock County government may set up shop at the Oconee Fall Line Technical College.

The government was displaced when the county courthouse was destroyed in a fire early Monday.

College president Lloyd Horadan offered it to the county to use and the county would only have to pay for utilities.

Public input wanted in Georgia's deer management plan

Georgia Department of Natural Resources wants your input in how the state manages the white-tailed deer population.

According to a release, the meetings include an overview of stakeholder recommendations and proposed actions to take for deer management including: population density, seasons and bag limits, hunting methods, hunter access, urban deer management, education and outreach.

You can attend a meeting at Monroe County Library on Wednesday, August 20 at 7 p.m.
