Bleckley Gets Dramatic Walk Off Win Versus Putnam County

It was Putnam County who gave the Royals their only region loss.  Friday, the War Eagles looked to do it again.  Though Bleckley led through four innings on Bryant Trice's solo home run, Putnam had scored twice in the fifth to go ahead 2-1.

In the bottom of the seventh, Austin Simmons singled with one out and went to third on Frankie Lee Mullis' double.  Simmons scored the game tying run when the Putnam catcher dropped a third strike to Tavon Ross and the ball rolled away.

Still tied at two in the ninth, Cal Young reached on an error with two outs.  Caleb Slaughter followed and connected on a two-run home run to give BCHS a 4-2 win.  Slaughter finished 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI.  Mullis went 2 for 4.

Austin Willliams struck out nine in seven and a third innings pitched.  Simmons went two and two third innings, giving up one hit for his first win.  Bleckley hosts Coffee High School Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Thursday's Bleckley-West Laurens golf matches that were to be played at Green Acres Golf Course were rained out. 

The home JV baseball game versus Veterans High School was also canceled and will be made up as part of a doubleheader at Veterans April 18. 

Friday's varsity baseball game against Putnam County High School has been moved back to 6:30 p.m. in order to allow more field time preparation due to recent rain.

Bleckley Soccer Teams Swept In Makeup Matches vs Putnam

BCHS made up March 1 soccer matches versus Putnam County postponed due to basketball playoffs Wednesday.  The Lady Eagles got a hat trick from Samantha Silva in the first half and scored twice in the second half to defeat the Lady Royals 5-0.

Carson Garrett's free kick at 29:59 of the first cut a two-goal deficit to one.  Putnam scored at 12:00 of the second to defeat the Royals 3-1.  Friday, the girls play at Macon County with a 5:30 p.m. start.  Both teams travel to Eatonton to take on Putnam County March 26.  Times are 5:30 and 7:30 pm.

Bleckey Falls to Putnam in Region Baseball Opener

BCHS looked to shake off Monday's home loss to Dublin as they began 4-AA play Wednesday at Putnam County.   Three errors contributed to three War Eagle runs in the bottom of the second.  Putnam scored four more in the fifth. 

Austin Simmons broke up a no-hitter in the sixth.  He scored on TavonRoss' triple.  Bryant Trice followed with a two-run home run.  Frankie Lee Mullis doubled to lead off the seventh but was left stranded.  He was the second straight runner stranded in scoring position as the Royals  lost their third straight 8-3.

No player had two hits.  Bleckley hosts Crawford County Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Gatewood’s girls’ basketball team came away with a win in the first round of the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) Class AA basketball tournament, 58-32, over Sherwood Christian Academy Wednesday night at Windsor Academy in Macon.
