Possible Electrocution Death in Putnam County
News

Over the weekend, a Macon woman died in Putnam County .

The county's sheriff says the cause of death isn't official, but the doctors he spoke he say they believe 25-year-old Devin Powers died by electrocution.

Howard Sills says Powers was visiting her friend Kristi Williams when the two decided go swimming in Lake Sinclair at 106 Bluegill Run. The sheriff says the owner of the home lives in Macon and did not know they were there.

When Powers tried to pull herself out of the water and onto the dock, which was under construction, she grabbed an outlet box that was mounted onto a piece of wood. Sills said it was also possible she could've grabbed a piece of frayed wire near the outlet box.

Williams pulled Powers off the box, receiving a jolt herself, and held her head above water until neighbors arrived to pull her on land and start CPR.

Sills said doctors pronounced Powers dead at the hospital. Williams was not injured.
