Hancock County officials say they're going to try to preserve what's left of the town's historic courthouse.
The 131-year-old building was destroyed in a fire early Monday only leaving behind a facade, that was still smoldering Wednesday.
County clerk Broderick Foster told 13WMAZ that they will not be demolishing the building and they want to save as much as they can.
County officials will likely set up a temporary home at Oconee Fall Line Community Technical College.
The cause of the fire has not been determined and investigators said they probably will never know.
13WMAZ's Paula Rotondo will have more on this story from Sparta. Watch Eyewitness News at 5 and 6.
