Tuesday marks Election Day.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

When you go to vote, be sure to take your Georgia license, passport or military photo ID. You'll need to show that before voting.

If you need to doublecheck your polling location, enter your information and the database will show you where you're registered.

Hancock, Putnam Remain Among Georgia Counties with Highest Unemployment Rate

The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that the preliminary unemployment rate in Putnam County was 10.2 percent in May.

Hancock's May unemployment rate is 16 percent. Hancock and Putnam are two of 67 Georgian counties above 10 percent.

That's compared to Georgia's overall unemployment rate of 8.9 percent.

Metro Macon rose to 9.4 percent in May, up three-tenths of a percentage point from 9.1 percent in April, a Georgia Department of Labor news release says.

The rate was 10.1 percent in May 2011. 

Overall, Georgia's unemployment rate remained unchanged from April to May in 2011 and is down from May 2010, where the unemployment rate was 9.8 percent.

Putnam County to Open New Administration Building

Putnam County Administration officially opens with a grand opening Friday, June 15.

That's according to County Clerk Lynn Barber.

The program is from 2-6 p.m.

Annual Dairy Festival Set for June

EATONTON, GA.-- The annual Central Georgia festival that celebrates the local dairy industry, Eatonton's Dairy Festival, returns June 2. 

The festival events take place around the Putnam County Courthouse and is sponsored by the Pilot Club.

Main events involve  a parade, BBQ, live entertainment. Here is the 2012 festival schedule:

8 a.m.    Road Races -Sponsored by the Farmers and Merchants Bank

9 a.m.    Booths open on and around the Courthouse Square
