Organizing Fall Fling Day 23: Fridge

Organizing Fall Fling Day 23: Fridge

It’s time to tackle the refrigerator. Start by disposing of those questionable leftovers. Then move on to checking expiration dates. It’s amazing how quickly they sneak up on you. Shelf by shelf remove everything and give the shelves a quick wipe with a warm, soapy rag. When you put the food back in, it’s helpful to group like things together. I even like using acrylic bins and lazy susans to group items together.

Your fridge doesn’t have to be a scary place so start flinging those science experiments!

Organizing Fall Fling Day 22: Wrapping Paper

Organizing Fall Fling Day 22: Wrapping Paper

Gather all of your wrapping supplies into one place and take stock of what you have. Pull out anything that is dated, faded or wrinkled and recycle it. Do you have lots of wrapping paper but only use gift bags? Consider donating those rolls. Cull down to a reasonable about of supplies that will fit in an under the bed box, a drawer or a shelf.

Organizing Fall Fling Day 13: Food Storage Containers

Organizing Fall Fling Day 13: Food Storage Containers

Gather all of your plastic storage containers into one place. Start matching lids and bottoms. Put the lonely lids and bottoms with no mates out of their misery and recycle them.

Now toss the ones that have been used to microwave pasta sauce one to many times or that smell funny. Thoughtfully evaluate the number of containers you have and their sizes. Do they fit your everyday needs?

Do they stack or nest nicely together? If the answer is no, it may be time to say goodbye. It also may be time to buy new containers that stack better.  Now pick a designated spot in the kitchen for the containers to live.

If they outgrow this spot, it's time to purge again.  One last thought, you may only need 5-6 containers on a weekly basis but on special occasions like the holidays you may need a lot more for all those leftovers.

Consider moving some of your containers to a high, out-of-the-way shelf in your kitchen or pantry. Then you can get then down when you need them and not have about a plastic landslide every day.
