Mowing along Hancock, Putnam County highways

Drivers can expect GDOT crews to mow along SR 16 in Hancock and Putnam counties this week.

You'll want to watch out for heavy equipment entering and exiting SR 112 from mile marker 0 through 25 in Hancock and between 0-22 in Putnam County. Expect to see work this week between 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.

Flagmen may be on site, according to release.

The time is near for picking out pumpkins and decorating for autumn!

Where to Go for Pumpkin Patches:

  • Elliott Farms, Lizella: features a pumpkin patch, tractor hay rides, snacks, farm animals. Opens in October. Call 478-935-8180 for more information.
  • Troup Corn, Laurens County: Features corn maze, hay ride, pumpkin patch and a mini-maze. Call 478-272-8170. Open October 12-November 23
  • Twin Oaks Fun Farm, Monroe County. Features pumpkins and a corn maze. 
  • Our Cotton Pickin' Christmas Tree Farm, Hawkinsville. Check their Facebook page for updates.Pick your own pumpkin from the patch. Also enjoy cider or cocoa on the porch while the kids climb the hay mountain. Open 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Annual Dairy Festival Set for June

EATONTON, GA.-- The annual Central Georgia festival that celebrates the local dairy industry, Eatonton's Dairy Festival, returns June 2. 

The festival events take place around the Putnam County Courthouse and is sponsored by the Pilot Club.

Main events involve  a parade, BBQ, live entertainment. Here is the 2012 festival schedule:

8 a.m.    Road Races -Sponsored by the Farmers and Merchants Bank

9 a.m.    Booths open on and around the Courthouse Square
